article in a local magazine that mentions an Orlando Thermography
location. Turns out, there is no location. It's a woman with a mobile
unit - so she travels to different locations in Orlando. Hence how
difficult it was to track her down.
Amazingly enough, she will be in my area later this month - only about
10 minutes from my house.
I am going to make the appointment and spend some money on testing this
out. Because it is my first thermogram, I will need to have two - 90
days apart. So, the first one will be close to $195 and the second one
will be around $175. But the woman couldn't tell me the costs for sure.
I need to speak to someone at the location the mobile unit will be
coming to in order to make the appointment and find out the costs but
she isn't at work today.
The woman doing the thermography didn't know what DCIS was, but because
it is an anatomical thing, she said it is possible that thermography
will not pick it up - DCIS does not create a tumor until after it
becomes invasive. So, if I have more DCIS forming, I think I will need
a mammogram to pick that up. If I wait until thermography sees a tumor
at its earliest point, it is already further advanced than what the
mammo picked up. Unfortunately, there are flaws in all methods
available to us.
The woman also said thermography will pick up benign fibrocystic
disease. She said that the people who read the pictures look for
certain patterns to determine if the object is benign or not. So, I can
see where there might be a lot of misinformation - depending on who is
reading the pictures. I can see why this is to be used in conjuction
with another method of cancer detection.
