[cancercured] Oh So Simple - Exercise NOT an Option

I turned on the television this evening to one of the channels I
generally don't mind watching, and there, before my eyes, was a
couple saying that we all MUST exercise, if possible. I know we have
a few members of this board who have serious difficulties with even
simple exercise, but for the majority of us, WE NEED TO MOVE OUR
BODIES.

The couple said that 50% of colon cancer can be avoided if people
just do 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days a week!

They said, "Perhaps we should not call it "exercise" but should call
it "moving your waters." They meant pumping the lymphatic system. My
sister-in-law is 52-years-old and she only just learned three days
ago from my wife that she has a lymphatic system that must be pumped
through muscular activity in order to cleanse the body of toxins. She
did not know that the heart does not pump the lymph, it pumps the
blood only.

The couple on TV said, "Dis-ease happens in a STAGNANT body." Just as
water stagnates, develops nasty microorganisms and starts to stink
when it is not moving, SO DO OUR BODIES. Our bodies are 70% WATER,
and WATER acts the SAME WAY in the body as it does anywhere else! Our
waters were meant to move and WE were meant to move.

WHY is the United States such a sickly nation? One IMPORTANT reason
is that we DO NOT MOVE enough. We DO NOT pump our lymphatic systems
nearly enough. We DO NOT "move our waters." We form stagnant,
microorganism-ridden, waste-ridden, stagnant pools inside our bodies!
The following is typical, I believe, of many, many Americans:

All of us LIE DOWN at night and try to sleep through the night, of
course, and that's about 8 hours without much movement.(Yes, we toss
and turn in our sleep, but that kind of activity is negligible in
terms of exercise.)

Then we arise in the morning and the majority of us do not exercise.
We shower, brush our teeth, dress, SIT DOWN to a generally
unhealthful breakfast, (IF we even eat breakfast---many "grab"
a donut and coffee on the way to work.)

Then we SIT DOWN in the car and drive to work, many of us remaining
seated for 40 minutes to an hour or more in rush hour traffic. When
we get to work, we try to find the closest parking spot to our
building, and if our office is not on the ground floor, most of us
TAKE THE ELEVATOR to the floor on which our office is located. We get
to our office and we SIT DOWN at our desks and go to work for 3 hours
or so.

Then we TAKE THE ELEVATOR back down to the employee cafeteria, where
we SIT DOWN to eat an almost certainly unhealthful lunch, or we SIT
DOWN in our cars and drive to a restaurant where we SIT DOWN to a
generally unhealthful lunch. We then SIT BACK DOWN in our cars, drive
back to work, TAKE THE ELEVATOR back up to our office where we SIT
DOWN to work for another 4 hours or so.

When the work day ends, we TAKE THE ELEVATOR back down, SIT DOWN in
our cars, spend another 40 minutes to 1 hour or more SITTING DOWN on
the drive home.

When we arrive home, most of us do not exercise, but instead SIT DOWN
to "watch a little TV," while our dinner is heating, or while our
spouse prepares dinner. We then SIT DOWN at the table to eat dinner,
and after dinner is over, we SIT DOWN to watch more TV, or read the
paper or use the computer, or even maybe read a book. Soon it's time
for bed, and we LIE DOWN and go to sleep again.

And so it goes...

If exercise, or "moving our waters" is not an option, is it any
wonder we are such a sick nation?

Best wishes and best of health,

Elliot
