I have had a lymph node, near my right jaw, enlarged to about 2cm since right before New Years. I saw a doctor only because my right ear was also messed up. Now that doctor wants to excise this node due to my peritoneal breast cancer mets history. I know a couple of things: 1) this is not a typical bc mets spot, 2) it's not fixed and it's not rock hard, and 3) I wouldn't do chemo even IF there was something bad in that node. I also know it's right near my carotid artery and a bundle of facial nerves, neither of which do I want messed up! LOL
His thinking is that if it IS something bad, it's best to get that node out before it spreads to other nodes. My question is, if chemo is not something that I would consider, is there any benefit to having that node removed? Would lightening the "tumor load" be of benefit
without the option of chemo?
Thank you for your input!
