I don't think they can stage you, then, until after surgery. Does the
pathology report say whether you are hormone receptor positive or
negative?
You need all the information you can get in order to plan your attack -
be it alternative or traditional treatment. And don't let anyone push
you into a plan, either. Take your time and research.
In my situation, I decided to do both. I made this decision because I
was already a vegetarian raw foodist, so diet changes were not really
something I wanted to try again. I did lumpectomy and then radiation.
However, I really had to search deep inside myself to come to peace with
the decision for radiation. Meanwhile, I took a supplement that is
supposed to cut down on the possibility of metastasis. And, as my
cancer was hormone receptor positive, I am seeing an ND to help regulate
my hormones. Also, I'm 42. Treatment is different if you are
post-menopausal.
If you want help making a decision, read "What Your Doctor May Not Tell
You About Breast Cancer." I found it very empowering.
