Sho-saiko-to is a mixture of seven botanicals:

* Bupleurum root (Chai hu)
* Pinellia tuber (Ban xia)
* Scutellaria root (Huang qin)
* Ginseng (Ren shen)
* Jujube (Da zao)
* Licorice (Gan cao)
* Ginger (Sheng jiang)

A number of pharmacologically active components have been isolated
