In my opinion, there is but one primary cause of cancer. Its hypoxia, the oxygen
starvation of the healthy cells which switch their metabolism as a
survival mechanism. It is always brought on by a lack of essential
nutrients and inadequate waste removal. There are thousands of things
that can bring this process about but there is only one single cause
that makes a cell cancerous.

Otto Warburg was awarded the 1931 Nobel Prize for this discovery.
