My name is Tracie and I live in New York. I'm hoping that the group
wil be able to help my family in answering some questions regarding
alternative cancer treatments for my father's girlfriend who was
diagnosed with Sqaumous in January 2007.
To give some backround: Forgive me if some things are vague, but
getting all of the information out of them sometimes is quite a
challenge... She had surgery in Jan. 2007 in which they removed her
tonsils, uvula, part of her palate and some lymph nodes surrounding
the areas. Within 2 months the growth started to come back inside
her neck below her right ear, so the next step was 35 (give or take)
daily radiation treatments followed a few months later by 5 or 6
monthly chemo treatments.
She was scanned the week of Christmas and the results pretty much
said the growth was slightly smaller, didn't spread, but was still
there. After seeing new doctors at Sloan-Kettering in New York City
she was to be re-radiated, with a weekly dose of chemo for good
measure :( Which the docs said might not even work I might add.
She was to have a feeding tube put in last week as a pro-active way
just in case the radiation made it impossible for her to eat
anything. On the day of the tube insertion, she just flipped out and
said that she didn't want to go ahead with any of the radiation and
chemo knowing full well that it might not even work and would zap her
of any and all the energy that she has left.
So this is where I need the groups help... Can anyone help us in
figuring out diets, vitamins or any alternative methods that might
help her keep her immunity and energy levels up. Any and all
information will be welcomed by our family.
