I think it can be hurtful to be too cavalier, matter-of-fact and
definite about cancer and about curing it. Such absolute sureness can
come across as all-knowing and harsh. There are indeed people who do
everything they can to recover from cancer but who still die from the
dis-ease. It is important not to make people feel guilty on top of the
diagnosis of cancer.
While Edwin may indeed have some excellent ideas, I do not believe one
can say about all cases of cancer---"Got cancer? Here's the cure---
simple!" And then even to say, "Not getting well? Oh, it's your fault.
You decided not to get well." Or, "You didn't do what it takes to get
well."
That is going way over the line in my opinion. It is just not that
simple---not in all cases, and not in many cases.
