Thanks for the great post. My wife and I try to drink a quart of green
smoothie each day early in the morning for breakfast. I start off with
spirulina, alfalfa and blue green algae tablets, and then after about
30 minutes, I have the green smoothie along with chlorella tablets.
Victoria Boutenko has written a book called "Green For Life," which I
recommend. In it, she says she studied the diet of Jane Goodall's
chimpanzees, and that she found that the majority of what they eat is
green leaves of many different kinds.
Boutenko says she invented the green smoothie as a way of allowing
herself to ingest more kale/chard than she ever could if she tried to
just eat those greens whole and unpricessed. She says when she tried to
eat them whole and unprocessed, she soon became nauseated, but that
when she combined the greens with banana and/or other fruit, she could
ingest much larger amounts of those greens without a problem.
While it is irrefutable that chimps are closest to humans genetically,
so that it would appear to make sense that we'd do best to eat a diet
similar to what they eat, I have a niggling thought that perhaps human
beings become nauseated after eating a certain amount of kale and
certain other greens for a good reason...? I don't know---just
thinking...
But in any event, my wife and I have been drinking green smoothies for
about a year, and though we can't say we have seen any astounding
changes, we do not feel it has done us any harm. And we CERTAINLY are
never constipated! :+))
