[cancercured] Re: Bad news ...Extract Root Canals/Remove Fillings

I had all my amalgams removed and replaced with composites four years ago. It is true
that composites only last 15 years or so. I did it because my amalgams were beginning to
fall apart anyway. They started to do this when I was pregnant -- an awful situation for
my baby -- because my teeth were looser in my mouth from all the hormones running
around.

Because the amalgams were "leaking" and full of tiny holes, I was getting problems with
my teeth. I ended up getting a root canal, which later also went wrong, so I had to have
the tooth extracted (a molar). So, the good news is I have no root canal teeth, but it was
all very brutal and horrible.

My husband's amalgams are now also falling apart. This is because they were put in his
mouth 35-40 years ago when he was a small child. That's about how long they last, if you
are lucky.

So.....the long and short for me was: get rid of the amalgams around the time they are
going to start to fall apart anyway, preferably before they get so bad that you are getting
mild toothaches that may later lead to infection.

Replace with composites, even though they only last 15 years or sometimes less, and be
vigilant about any sign of problems there, too.

Try to avoid further root canals by prompt, thorough dentistry at the slightest of twinges!

of course, it would be better to have no amalgams, but if you are already ill you might
make yourself a whole lot sicker by replacing all your amalgams at once as there is no way
I know of to do it entirely "safely" with no Hg running around afterwards.
