From the UROs report on the surgery, it looks like he took it all out, and there was no muscle invasion, and he DID say "it usually returns" which implies he took it all out.
The biopsy report said it was "high grade 3-4/4), and had invaded the "lamina propria", but there was no muscle tissue to evaluate..so that sounded as tho no muscle invasion yet ( which is more serious).
then I went to allexperts.com, where you can ask email questions to docs of different specialties...they seem very qualified...I emailed a pathologist who said she interprets your biopsy report..she said it was a T1 ca which means it has not invaded the muscle.therefore it is still superfical
Then i did research and a minimally invasive procedure is BCG which is inserted thru a catheter and kills superficial tumors, and is said by urology associations to be the best and least expensive and minimally invasive treatments , added to TURP (which is what the URO did) also Retinoid a Vit A products has helped.
Since the UROs apptrach was "just come back in 3 months for another cytoscopic exam, unless it starts bleeeding again", i said "shouldd'n I do something for prevention, such as see an oncologist?" This was before I had done my own research re prevention. So he referred me to an ONCO at the County Hospital ( I am poor, so I qualify for this..no insurance)
So i see the ONCO, and I dont think money was her motive, since she just works for this county hospital but she scared the HELL out of me...she says "this is a bad cancer...its sneaky..we'll have to do 6 sessions of chemo..one week 6 hours next week 2 hours , a week break, then repeat it 2 times over..plus you may need radiation and the we have to remove the bladder anyway!!" She seemed young and maybe not too expeienced. She had not talked with the URO yet, just read the reports.. She would use Cisplatin and Gemcitbine ? for the chemo!!
I asked her about the less invasive things I mentioned above..she said " those are all ineffective" I said how about if we just do the chemo and monitor the bladder ca..tests, etc? she said there are NO accurate teste to monitor this!!
My reseach from urology assn websites , shows that cytospcopic exam is 95 % effective at detecting these tumors,, plus there is a bllod test and urine test which when combined are 91% effective and accurate,,this is from pubmed.org
BTW, They had done cat scans of the whole abdominal area from the stomcah on down, includingthe blood (they shot iodine in my veins) and nothing else re cancer showed up. Also EKGs, Xrays...i mentioned that to her, she said that IS good, but a few cells amy have escaped and these are UNDETECTABLE, so we still have to do this.
1) I am scared, so if you know of anything about this or the chemo let me know.
The chemo sems minamal (I tlke dto someone who had 20 sessions or the same thing), but then I hear it weakens your immune system so a few years after you can die quickly!! Anyone know of this Cisplatin and gemcitabine?
I am thinking of asking the URO to do the BCG for now ,since UROs do that, and monitor it PLUS do the alternatives such as Budwig, etc
Re baking soda:
1) can i take plain Alka Seltzer without the drugs they oput in some of them? I have found Alka Seltzer with sod bic plus citic acid and aspirin..that eesm tot be the purest I can find.
2) Re Alka seltzer it says the max is 2 tablets , every 8 hours , ONLY .is that the max dose?
3) If I can get just sodium bic , where do I get it amd what is the daily dose?
4) Dr S says that the baking soda only works orally for digestive tract cancers,..for toher areas it has to be injected...BUT now i hear he /others use a self catheter to inject it into the bladder.Anyone know about this? Is there a catheretes you can re use? i went to a med supply place and they had one for $44 and it was single use only!
5) Dr S wll be at the cancer Society convention in Los angeles end of August, aned I'll tlk to him
