The idea that the sugar in the syrup will be concentrated in the tumor where it can deliver the alkaline baking soda is an appealing idea but makes no sense scientifically. This approach somehow assumes that the maple syrup and bicarb will remain together through the digestive process, which would not be the case. The syrup will be digested as a sugar and the bicarb may raise the pH of the stomach, but there is no reason to think they would not be separated and distributed as separate components once ingested. In this case, the additional glucose ingested may actually encourage growth of the cancer.
