First, artemisinin (the natural derivative) is not water soluble.
You have to take it with fat. I suggest coconut oil because the
lauric acid in it helps the body to absorb other substances. Doses
of arte depend on body size. Most people are good with 300 mg.
Taking larger doses is not necessarily better. Large doses speed up
the induction of the liver enzyme that breaks it down and therefore
decreases the half life in the system. Absorption of arte falls off
after a few doses and is only thirty per cent original absorption by
day 6. My feeling is that it is best to give arte in bursts of 5 or
6 days, then take a few days off. The effect of arte is synergistic
with butyrate supplementation. You have to take a fair amount of
butyrate, around 6 capsules with the arte to make this happen. Arte
should be taken apart from anti-oxidants. Arte at night and
anti-oxidants in the morning works.
