They used the powder from the rotten core of the banana tree. Put lots
of powder on the sliced off last finger digit and wrapped it with a
piece of cloth for several months. They did not reattach the chopped
off part.

The finger grew back. A slight bend. But useful as any finger. Emelda
is a reflexologist.
