I had a bad pain in my neck with a numbing sensation and used my
infrared ceramic heat emitter to shine on the back of my neck for an
hour or more. Just the one time fixed my neck pain so it stopped
hurting at all. My heat emitter is sold for warming reptiles, it is a
100 watt one-

scroll down to ceramic heat emitters. They have heating coils embedded
in the ceramics and last a long time. They also sell fixtures, they
require a ceramic socket. Infrared are the heat frequencies that are
in sunlight. You would have to decide for yourself if using one on
your head would be a good idea or not.
