Tea is noted for a soothing effect -- which is what I always experience (whereas coffee, which I don't drink, except for an occasional decaf, gives me a VERY unpleasant buzz), so I would be a little surprised if it were responsible for the effects you mention, but individual effects can obviously vary.
I really think that the caffeine in tea works differently than that in other contexts for most people, but again, anything's possible, especially on an individual basis.
P.S. What would be the purpose of drinking beer without alcohol? -- a pleasant fermented beverage.
:)
