[cancercured] Re: melantonin [and antioxidant sources]

Hi.

Please understand that I myself am not a researcher or a medical
practitioner of any kind, and that this is conjecture, but very
serious conjecture, I believe, because of the source:

I am in touch regularly with a distinguished scientist in his 70's,
whose name is Dr. Herbert Weissbach, and Dr. Weissbach has been
studying antioxidants for decades. His opinion is, after all the studying he has done, that external antioxidants, those taken in pill and capsule form by mouth, that is, are almost immediately destroyed by the body before they can do any good, and that they stand little to no chance of entering the cell mitochondria.

Personally, I think Dr. Weissbach's opinion merits serious
consideration.

I myself have taken up to 20 mg of melatonin, with never a single
side-effect---hangover or whatever. That would, in my case, appear to
bear out what Dr. Weissbach says.

I think the best thing I can do to get as much antioxidant activity
going in my body as possible is to eat lots of raw vegetables and
fruits, as well as algae such as chlorella, spirulina and blue-green.

I do take selenium, grape seed extract and some other supplements,
but I am not as sure as I once was as to how much good they actually
do.

Best wishes,

Elliot
