Campbell would be the first to say that what he writes about is not a
panacea/miracle/never get cancer solution.
And Rath would say his maxim, "Genetics may load the gun, but
lifestyle pulls the trigger," is not a hard and fast, works in all
human beings all the time rule, either.
We can only live our lives based on the healthiest principles we can
find for ourselves. The rest we must leave up to
providence/chance/nature.
Your first reply, "I agree. That makes a lot of sense." is about all
any reasonable person can say about what Campbell and Rath are
saying, and it makes sense to me that both Campbell and Rath are
askign themselves the SAME follow-up questions you are! :+))
I can make some conjectures as to why people who "do all the right
things" still are dx'd with cancer:
Some genetically-driven cancers are going to happen despite one
trying with diet, exercise, mental hygiene, etc, to head them off.
Emotional disturbances may give rise to cancer in people who
otherwise take good care of themselves.
Exposure to environmental pollution of various kinds can give rise to
cancer in people who take the best care they can of themselves.
No one has all the answers, and no one ever will, in my opinion, as
to why cancer happens. All we can do is the best we can, and must
leave the rest up to happenstance.
Best wishes and best of health,
Elliot
