What was the story they did on ABC news?

When making this choice to have a SNB done you need to make sure you
tell your surgeon to not remove any other lymph nodes. Of course there
are many "what if's" to this. What if there is cancer present in the
SN. Sometimes they don't always do as you asked them. I had a SNB, had
micro mets and then the surgeon proceded to removed 10 more nodes. Now
I am at a high risk for Lymphedema. We had asked her to NOT remove any
other nodes but the SN.

Lymphedema after removal of lymph nodes is something the doctor and
surgeons don't really dwell on. But if you have some of the lymph nodes
removed, you will have a much higher risk of getting this.

Also, removal of the SN does not increase survival. It's a procedure
used to stage the cancer.
