[cancercured] Re: My answer for Cancer Cure!

I don't feel Mike's question was answered at all. I have CLL aka "the
good cancer." Perhaps the oxymoron of all time. My mom died at a
young age from leukemia (not sure of the subtype - it was quite
awhile ago and there's no one left to ask, not that I think it would
matter at this point).

I've been on a W&W status for just over a year. The local onc wanted
me to start on chemo like a week after I was diagnosed. Thank
goodness I found the CLL forum where they quite strongly suggested a
specialist which I now see (fortunately being an hour from a CLL
specialist at the UCSD Cancer Center in San Diego). I have no
interest in using chemo as I believe while many have been helped,
more have been poisoned.

Some things that purportedly work (or at least help) like Essiac Tea
is totally NOT recommended for blood cancers. But that was
the first alternative thing recommended to me. Good thing I did some
research.

Interesting that my doc asked me on one of my 4 month visits if I was
using Green Tea. And yep, I do. Supplements AND drink it, I happen to
love the taste anyway. I also take Vit D3 since I'm careful about
being outside (and have an inside job anyway). However I've taken
supplements since LONG before I was diagnosed.

Many things that I've read here and elsewhere have been pretty much
debunked like the "detox patches and foot baths." Here's just one:

http://tinyurl.com/2kne9n. I think a lot of people are just taking
your hard-earned money from just this one example of
supposed "cures." When the liver is functioning properly, it's a
marvelous detox agent on it's own.

Those remind me of the "diet" patches that you slap on your arm and
voila! The placebo effect at best. People will do and spend just
about anything to avoid exercise. Expend more calories than you take
in, now THAT does work and has been proven extensively.

A side thought, but it's strange that "we" accept a scientific
diagnosis of cancer but reject pretty much all scientific answers.
Odd.

I STILL would like to see someone answer Mike's question. At this
point I'm (no doubt selfishly) not worried about what CAUSES cancer,
but what one can do to help it, if not a cure.

My family never lived near coal mines or things of that nature and
never have, my mom develped cancer anyway. We ate well-balanced meals
as a kid. No microwaves back then. Lot of smokers back in the day as
well as wonderful things like asbestos. I still absolutely do believe
there is a hereditary aspect to cancer as there are most certainly
environmental causes. However, again, the cause(s)is not the point
here, or was what Mike asked.

I also think the Rick Simpson (of Nova Scotia) story (do a YouTube
search) was dismissed by many that may have not watched the videos. I
think it a bit close-minded to make a judgment without at least
looking at the evidence and listening to those in the video. They
were everyday people that were helped. Not to mention that he
actually helped folks for free when necessary.

When a goodly amount of money is involved, even for information,
forget a cure, I get quite suspicous. If I had an answer, you can bet
others would know about it without me draining their wallet. Maybe
that's just me, but it's too bad our government and even many of us
are so close-minded. No surprise, sadly enough, with the powerful
lobbyists, big pharma and just plain greedy folks.

Some things discussed here and on other boards are so restrictive
that somewhere the quality of life must be taken into consideration,
at least from my viewpoint.

Anyway, my apologies for a too-long post, but I still haven't seen
Mike's question answered. I would also like to hear from someone.
Anyone? And quoting old (or even new)references or unproven theories
just doesn't cut it for me.
