The lab that does my blood work says that a normal CA-125 is anything below 35. I've read on the internet that it is anything below 23. When mine hit 16 my doctor did cartwheels, and as of last week it was 10. I have never told him that I am taking supplements --- and I'm taking a ton of them. He doesn't question what's going on, just says "You are a good patient." One surgeon advised me to "take lots of vitamins." We'd have gone this route anyway, but it was nice that he did that.
He said "vitamins" and I suspect that's exactly what he meant. The only things I take that are available here are the regular vitamins (with alphabet letters for names,) flax seed and flax seed oil, so everything else comes by mail order. My husband keeps researching, and every time he finds reference to something "alternative" that is used to treat cancer he researches it and generally orders it. So I'd be a terrible case-study for anyone wanting to prove a specific method works -- we're using it all.
I also did chemo, and was able to handle it very very well. We attribute the lack of side effects to all the supplements I was taking. But I'm confident that I'm here today not because of the chemo but because of the supplements. The chemo was just a stop-gap according to the doctors (3 surgeons, 3 oncologists, an 1 internist) because I was supposed have have been dead within 1 to 3 months even with the treatment. If I knew all that I know now, 1 year ago, I probably wouldn't have done the chemo. I don't know --- maybe I would have. I was so scared that I'd have tried anything.
Sorry I don't know more about the CA-125, but I do know that it is used as the primary method of monitoring ovarian cancer in Panama. CA-125 every 3 weeks and scans every 6 months at first, and then when the CA-125 dropped to normal it was only every 3 months for that, but still every 6 months for the scans.
I guess I didn't answer your question very well, but I don't know a lot.
Best best best to you. Jan

Congratulations on both having picked a GREAT husband! AND on your
great success so far. I just got my first CA-125 test. At first my
doctor refused it, said it's a ridiculous test, completely unreliable
and useless and inconsistent. Then after reviewing my family history
of cancer, she suddenly changed her tune, called me and left a message
about coming in THAT SAME DAY to have blood drawn for it ! I left her
a message asking about the reason for such a drastic change of mind,
but she's been non-responsive so far. I suspect she's waiting for
results first.
Sinc you mentioned it I was hoping you could tell me what you know
about it. How reliable you've learned that it is or isn't and what
the "normal" or "healthy" range is and anything else I should know
about it. I do have several "things" in both my ovaries. So far
everyone says they are liquid filled cysts "most likely" and not
worried that my colon cancer, which I'm getting chemo for currently,
has spread or been joined by a different cancer in my ovaries...
Thanks for your feedback and Yaaayyyy! on your progress!
Angel
And which brand of IP6 did you use, by the way?

internet research and acted as my "doctor." He gave me a number of
supplements, but IP6 was the cornerstone. It's been 53 weeks since I
had debulking surgery and everything is in the normal range (CA-125
and scans). So far so good. Good luck!
