Enbrel is an older drug used for treatment of arthritis. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory drug. The drug is administered by a doctor injecting it into the spinal canal in the neck at the base of the skull. The patient must then be tilted so that the drug flows up into the brain. This must be done weekly until improvement stabilizes. The researchers at UCLA Medical Center have followed patients for as long as 3 years without regression of symptoms.
It is a very skillful procedure and you need a doctor who is knowledgeable about this delicate procedure. The drug Enbrel is not without risk in and of itself. It has produced Multiple Sclerosis type symptoms in some patients.
