I've lurked around this group for a while but have found it difficult
to find much information on AML. My history is this:
I was diagnosed 2001, had 4 rounds of chemo but relapsed the following
year which lead me to have an allogenic bone marrow transplant after
an induction round of chemo. I relapsed again at the end of 2005 and I
had another allo BMT, then relapsed again in early 2007 where I had
an induction round of chemo to prepare for my THIRD BMT. I didnt end
up having the BMT but after relapsing again later on in 2007 I was
again induced and at the beginning of last month I had the BMT, this
time from an unrelated donor (the others were from my sister). Things
went well but there was always a high risk of my relapsing, which it
looks like has happened. I have always responded well to chemo, and
after something like 11 or 12 cycles it has never not worked, though
it must be said that I always did relapse sooner or later. At this
stage, apart from the fact that things just don't seem to be working
I'm really fed up with chemotherapy and hospitals.. and was wondering
if anyone could suggest any other approaches that may be helpful. I
understand that AML is a pretty bad disease but I also find it pretty
hard to believe that there's nothing that can help, or even cure it.
Thank you so much for your time.
Regards,
Jordan
