Your story sounds very familar. I am 32 and have a fibroid adnoma in
my right breast, which I have had since I was 24. Every year I have
a mammogram and an ultrasound. My mom,cousin, and Aunt (all from the
same side of the family) have had breast cancer. It is a very scary
thing but please remember that until you have the tests done, there
is nothing that you can do so just try to relax and enjoy your
children and family. Your mom will make her own decisions and all
you can do is ask her to go for her tests. Some women would rather
not know and lose a few years off of their lives than to know and go
through the treatments. My grandmother and her sister were the same
way. My grandmother lived to 81 (died in 2006) and my great aunt is
now 86 and will not do the mammogram and has not in 20 years. It is
healthier for your relationship with your mom not to push her. That
is hard to do but she is probably gotten really worked up about what
she will find out considering the family history. Some people
already think the worst diagnosis. Good luck and take care.
