On the plus side was Tsu-Tsair Chi. I have only the highest respect
for Dr. Chi. I've known him for 20 years and he always abreast of
the smartest thinking in China. He is there to sell products, but
his products do have science behind them and he doesn't try to sell
you things you don't need.
Jorge Flechas gave a succinct, quality presentation on iodine and
cancer. I couldn't help but think that he would be an excellent
guest lecturer at our seminars.
Friedrich Douwes of the St. George Hospital in Germany gave a good
overview of his treatments. He comes across as a very knowledgeable,
sensible, and good-humored fellow who has obviously had his fair
share of beer and sausage. I have heard complaints that he is almost
impossible to see because he is so busy. I don't think that there is
an answer for this as I see it over and over. A bright guy starts a
clinic and then his time is split a million ways. It is very
difficult to train a competent and cohesive staff. Any clinic that
is smooth running is probably a conveyor belt.
James Forsythe gave a presentation on his glyco-benzaldehyde. On the
plus side I have seen him make a difficult diagnosis that others have
missed. He has proven that he has the personal strength to fight the
FDA -- and win. On the negative side we have his proprietary
formulation for which only he has done the research. That is, he has
a secret, magical formulation that you can have if you give him your money.
There are legitimate reasons to keep secrets. Many scientists and
businesses share theirs with me as long as I keep my mouth shut. I
have to or my reputation would suffer. I still apply whatever I can
without undermining the intention of the agreement. Another
legitimate reason for secrecy is fear of misuse. Many treatments can
be dangerous if misapplied. A further reason for secrecy is fear
that once efficacy is demonstrated the treatment will be banned by
the FDA. There is always some other reason it is banned. Just this
past week I had to give my driver's license number in order to
purchase MSM. MSM?????
Thom Lodi gave a presentation. I have talked with him over the phone
for years and it was nice to meet him in person. Unfortunately I
think he is so focused on a raw vegan diet that he has a
religious-like intolerance for those who think differently. He says
that he refuses to sit at the table when he sees another practitioner
eat carrion or maggot food. He seems to delight in describing how
carnivores in the wild eat eyeballs and rectums. Perhaps Thom fails
to notice that humans have eyes in the front of their faces like the
rest of the predators, not on the sides of the head like the
grass-eating predatees. Humans also have a real problem digesting
cellulose in grass.
Personally I think that cancer patients in general do better when
they are willing to back off on the meat. If they can't give up
smoking, or meat-eating, or drinking alcohol, or eating sugar, I
don't brow beat them. I simply work around it. Most can still
improve their health.
It was great seeing list members, Judy Cheng (who has returned from a
successful trip to China), Leonard Rosenbaum (who has added romance
to his life), Dave Felt, et al., but I am sorry that I didn't see
Vincent Tokatlian -- the other Vincent. Lastly, I had the odd
experience of walking past a table with a big-screen television on it
with me giving a talk, but with no sound issuing from the
speakers. Nobody seemed to mind. How deflating.
Vincent
