Re: Daughtersofmoms withBREASTCANCER Recent Issues with Mom

It sounds like she won't want to go though, I don't think you can force her to face what she doesn't want to. She probably doesn't want constant reminders, I know my mom likes to keep her mind off of her fears and she is not at all interested in a support group. My mom prefers to surround herself with friends and family doing normal things whenever she can.

Our local hospital in Florida has a cancer support group that meets once a month. You could call your local hospitals to see if they have the cancer support group at their hospital. Also call the American Cancer Society and they can put you in touch with support groups. you can look in your local newspaper for groups too. I hope this helps you. Good luck to you and to your mom in her full recovery! Melissy

Hi,
My mom had breast cancer in the early part of the
90's. She is still a survivor but she still has to
keep going for blood work and tests and shots. I
guess its in remission. But I give my mother alot of
credit and think she is a remarkable woman for all
that she is going through and is still struggling to
survive and keep busy. I wish there was a way I could
get people to show my mother recognition for all her
efforts and willpower. She does not know how to
operate a computer. Do you know any organizations
that she may be involved with. I have sent for
different magazines for her with agencies, etc. but
she said it was so long ago, that she doesn't seem
interested. I know that its still a very sad part of
life for her. I don't know maybe she would not have
to be reminded of what she has to live with.
Well, if you know of any organizations that have
gatherings or keep in touch with people like my
mother, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.
