[cancercured] Re: Need Input - ACS "guidelines"

If one goes to that link, one can see that the ACS is all over the
board when it comes to dietary recommendations. They make some
healthful suggestions, such as not to eat heavily spiced, pickled or
cured products. They say to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables
and they give about 5 or 6 more sensible, healthful tips.

Then there is the kind of stuff you are talking about.

Their real problem is that they are writing for people who are being
made very sick by the cancer treatment they are undergoing, and their
position, really, is the same as the doctor I mentioned in a previous
message: "Happiness is when a person being treated with surgery,
radiation and/or chemotherapy, is eating anything at all."

Mouth sores, indigestion, vomiting, weakness, tiredness, fullness,
unconsciousness, constipation and such, all possible consequences of
mainstream cancer treatment, contribute significantly to lack of
appetite and difficulty eating.

Then, too, the ACS doesn't put much stock at all in making food one's
medicine, nor in the wisdom of the body to heal itself.

Finally, the ACS does not mind making deals with junk food companies
to promote itself. It seems to me they have, in the past, done promos
with the makers of "M&M's" and with the Hershey company.

In my opinion, the ACS competes seriously with Quackwatch with regard
to keeping people from doing the things they really need to do in
order to recover from cancer.

Best of health,

Elliot
