Please, people...cancer cells are not fungus. Not only are both
types of cells not of the same species, they are not even of the same
KINGDOM! The problem of cancer is already difficult enough without
obfuscating it with completely erroneous, unscientific information.
There are pleomorphic organisms including fungi and bacteria. They
change structure within a range of forms well understood. There is a
"similar" situation in animal cells having to do with stem cells and
differentiation. It is not pleomorphism. Mold cells do not turn
into animal cells and vice versa. Finding similarities to cancer
cells and then deciding they are fungal is like saying that a car and
the space shuttle are the same thing because they both burn fuel!
Pleomorphism does exist. It has nothing to do with cells of one
Kingdom morphing into cells from a completely different Kingdom.
I know there is a conspiracy driven by pharmacology to view things in
a certain way. This has less to do with science in general. Believe
me. If a case could be made that cancer was a fungus, the mycologists
(biologists who study fungi) would be jumping up and down and high
fiving each other. They would be grabbing all the big grants. This
isn't happening. The mycologists are studying fungi quitely in
their labs. They are the world's experts on fungi. If they thought
cancer was a fungus they would certainly be mentioning it. These
guys are a part of the general world of biological sciences. They
have no vested interest in pharmacy or any related paradigm.
People who espouse odd ideas on a list like this are free to do so.
I'd suggest, though, that they get some sort of solid academic
training before they do so. They are confusing people. That is
never good.
