Re: [cancercured] Re: Capsaicin/Habaneras for prostate-Too hot

I suspect that few people on this list are capable of consuming the habanero pepper and over the years most of the Capsicum benefit I have read about were involved with the pretty red Cayenne. This is hot enough though much milder than the Habenero (Scotch Bonnet). You will find biting a small piece of the Cayenne and placing it under your tongue will suffice for your purposes if, that is, you can stand it. Do not do this with the Habenero. If you are adventurous snip off the tiniest bit and try it but have a glass of milk ready to with which to wash your mouth out.

It is claimed the benefit comes from the pepper being placed in the mouth rather than in capsule form.

Here's some information on the Habenero/Scotch Bonnet:

The Scotch Bonnet (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) is a variety of chili pepper similar to and of the same species as the habanero. A cultivar of the habanero, it is one of the hottest peppers in the world. Found mainly in the Caribbean islands, it is named for its resemblance to a Scotsman's bonnet. Most Scotch Bonnets have a heat rating of 150,000-325,000 Scoville Units.

Whether or not there is any benefit to these peppers is something I do not know and have only read about it.
