Hi Elliot-
I'm very glad to see you take issue with the "colon plaque" fable
which has cluttered up natural health discourse for years. I'd always
accepted it without question until I had a colonoscopy when I thought
how can this examination work if there's a layer of gunk between the
'scope and the colon wall.I asked the gastroenterolgist who sighed and
said he's been asked that question a thousand times. There is no such
layer. A fast for 24 hours drinking only clear juices and broth and
the two pints of prescribed citric phosphate (some such name) is all
that's necessary to clear the colon for viewing. A cast iron sewer
pipe does accumulate a layer of hardened sludge but the colon does
not. Peristalsis keeps everything moving along. This was confirmed by
a pathologist I know who has done hundreds of autopsies.
