One does not have to "oversupplement" with B complex for the urine to
turn day-glo yellow. One dose is enough. Iodoral also turns the urine
bright yellow. Eating beets turns the urine reddish, which can be scary
if one forgets one ate beets. There are indeed various edibles and
beverages that can affect the odor of urine. The first urine of the
morning can have a particularly strong smell. There are many different
permutations and combinations of how urine can look and smell. Here is
a link to an eBay page with many low-priced blood sugar testing kits:

My wife and I each test our blood sugar with such a device about once a
month. Takes less than a minute. And we keep the numbers in a little
log book for future reference.
Best wishes and best of health,
Elliot
