[cancercured] Re: Bras, etc /was:Article about breast cancer , mets, and the gene that cause.

Elliot -

Typically women wear snug-fitting sports bras to hold the breasts
close to the chest wall so they don't move. I have found "softer" more
flexible sports bras in Target - Champion makes them. I buy mine a
size or so larger so they let the lymphatics breathe. Even if one buys
the "right" size you have to be careful of where the straps toward the
neck are - if these are too tight they plug up the cervical nodes and
the flow can't get below. Thus getting a larger size. For me even a
bigger size is still good support. I make an X with my arms across my
chest when rebounding.

The concern with breast lymphatics is not just in the upper part of
the breast toward the axillaries. Women should NOT be wearing
underwire bras, for a number of reasons, one of which is the lymph
below the breast get congested also and get backed up.

I had a massage therapist work with me to get the lymph soft and
flowing again. There are a number of breast lymph techniques that one
can do on their own, or have someone (therapist or significant other)
assist with this. It can be painful at first, once they are opened up
it's no longer painful.

Another good thing everyone can do is bounce on those large exercise
balls. These work the abdominal muscles and also work lymphatics too.
These are great for those who don't have good balance or who may have
to sit and exercise.

There are also great herbal teas to help with lymph and blood cleansing.
