[cancercured] Re: Bad news ...Extract Root Canals/Remove Fillings

Hi, Cathy.

Thank you for your kind, intelligent replies.

It's quite similar, with mainstream dentistry versus holistic
dentistry, to mainstream medicine versus holistic medicine, isn't it?

I greatly appreciate your forthrightness with regard to the situation
for many people post-extraction of root canal teeth or amalgams. It
is hardly a piece of cake, is it?

And I could not agree with you more about doing our best to keep
ourselves healthy so as not to get to a situation where we are faced
with the choice of root canal or extraction, amalgam or composite,
and so forth.

In my own case, I believe the compromised condition of my salivary
glands and the shrinking of my gums, due to chemotherapy I underwent
in 1989, had much to do with my having to have 3 root canals
subsequent to my hitting the age of 48 to 50. I do think there is
something to the idea that one's body changes/ages significantly
every 7 years, and that 49-50 is a highly significant year in that
regard. I am deeply thankful that my wife, who turned 55 this past
October, is now losing a significant amount of weight, and that she
may be down to her normal weight in another 9 months or so.

At 50, we can either go down a very slippery slope and become
invalids in our senior years, or we can buckle down more strongly in
how we take care of ourselves and do as much as we can to enjoy the
eumphemism of "the golden years." (Personally, I think the "golden
years" ought to be from the age of 20 to the age of 50 in a person
whose parents have brought him up well! :+)) )

Right now, I am very concerned about this dryness of mouth I am
experiencing, and I am going to telephone the radiologist's office to
find out how many rads were delivered during the treatments. I also
was supposed to receive a phone call from one or two dentists about
the possibility of late-term salivary gland atrophy subsequent to
radiation, but have not gotten their calls. I guess, much as I
despise the idea, I am going to have to get into a dentist's chair
soon to assess what kind of danger I am in regarding the oral dryness
and to try to ascertain if damage has actually occurred. There is no
exact method of measuring salivary gland atrophy, from what I've
read, though a dentist can squeeze the glands to see how well they
are delivering saliva.

Thanks again and best of health to you,

Elliot
